There are many methods to select object in AutoCAD drawing. Normally, we use those methods unintentionally without understanding exactly what they are and sometimes, even with people who uses AutoCAD for a long time but still don’t know all methods to select objects provided by AutoCAD.
In this tutorial, I will guide you some tips to select object in AutoCAD

• Pickbox

Use mouse-click method to choose object depend on selected cell, we can only select one object per time.

• Auto

When we activate a command which displays this text “select objects”, we have to choose 2 points to allocate window frame.
If the first point is on the left and the second point is on the right, only objects on window frame is selected.

If the first point is on the right and the second point is on the left, objects that is on and interfere with window frame is selected.

• Window

When we active a command which displays this text “Select objects”, we type “W”
Choose “W1” and “W2” to determine window frame, objects on window frame will be selected.

• Crossing window

When we active a command which displays this text “Select objects”, we type “C”.
Choose “W1” and “W2” to determine window frame, objects that is on and interfere with window frame will be selected.

Error Net framework 4.5 when install AutoCAD

Error “.Net framework 4.5” when AutoCAD is installed on windows which is one of the common mistakes when you installed that no specific recovery instructions.

This error is common when you install AutoCAD 2010, AutoCAD 2015 … on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10. Contents of error is .NET 4.5 is installed. AutoCAD … English không installed without this component. See của system administrator for more information.

Usually with this error if someone fluent in English, you can search for “.net framework 4.5 is not installing” or “.net framework 4.5 is not installing windows”.

But with someone do not know English, you can refer to this article to troubleshoot “.Net 4.5” errors when installing AutoCAD on Windows 10.

Step 1:

You open the Control Panel Home window to follow the path: Start/Control Panel/Programs and Features and then click on “Turn I Windows Features on or off” to open “Windows Features” window activate “net framework”.

Step 2:

Windows Features opens up, if to be either .NET framework 4.6 Advanced and .NET framework 3.5(includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) are not installed. Now you select and then click OK to download and install.

If you install to follow above tutorial but still get an error, the cause is the version of Autodesk understand the .NET framework 4.5 but Windows 10 understand .NET framework 4.6. To resolve this error, you try to do steps as follow

Step 3:

You go to Start -> Run -> Type Regedit -> Ok

Step 4:

Regedit Editor window pops up.

You accessed at the following URL: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/.NET Framework Setup/V4/Client. In the right panel, you seek to file Version.

Step 5:

You double-click on the file Version and then Edit String window pops up.

In the Value data card: You changed to 4.5 and click Ok to accept.

If the message Error Editing Value show up means you do not have the right to change this setting.

Step 6: (If step 5 above error message, it just made this step)

Creating groups of object to get easier on working with a complex drawing. We usually create block of objects, but the disadvantage of block is that it just manages 1 type of separate object. To manage more object belongs many different types, we use Group, Select, Ddselect… to create group of objects.

How to create a group objects in AutoCAD 2015?

Group command

• Type G command -> Space.
• Type N
• Set name for group of objects.
• Choose the objected wanted to create group.
• Type space to end command, 1 group will be created.

Select command

• Type Select command -> Space.
• Choose objects needed to create.
• Type Space to end command.
• When executing edit command (such as: erase, copy, move…) to choose objects created as group again by select command above, we type P; so they will re-choose at this edit command.

+ For example:

• Command: Move -> Space
• Select object: P -> Space
• Select object: Space

After unticking, there is a warning notification displayed: click Ok to accept, then click Apply and Ok to close the dialog.

• Next, follow this link: C/user/Your computer name/App. Data/Roaming/Autodesk/Autocad/R19.1/Enu/Support. Copy lisp AutoCAD file and Paste into the link above, then close.

• A window will be displayed to confirm choosing block.
• Click Ok to accept.

• Starting to modify object as you want; after finishing, click on “close block editor” symbol to close block editing window.
• Autocad will ask you to save changes, click “Save the change to…” to save.

1. Easy to manage and statistic;
2. Avoid mistake in doing action;

Your computer has already installed AutoCAD software but you cannot open *.dwg file. When you right-click on drawing file to open, a notification displayed to open *.dwg with AutoCAD DWG Launcher “open with AutoCAD DWG Launcher”.

In fact, it is neither AutoCAD’s error nor system’s error. The reason is autocad is not automatically updated all .dwg file on your computer.

To set .dwg files automatically open with autocad when you click on them, you need to establish the connection between them.

The action of Xref command:

Xref command is the link between an arbitrary drawing and main drawing.

If you insert a drawing like block, all features of block will be saved on main drawing. Block will not updated if original drawing has changed.

If you insert drawing as xref type, xref will be updated when main drawing has any changes, main drawing always catches up to newest update of xref

Xref command is usually used when working in group online or in design department on doing with a huge design drawing. At that time, each member of group just handle one part of that project. The staff of design department will use xref command and paste component drawings of project to main drawing to finish and export that one into hard file. Every time you open main drawing, changes in xref will be updated.

In conclusion, Xref command has some main actions:

Create completed drawing from component drawings.

1. Connect your work with your teammate’s work by layering teammate’s drawing on yours when doing them in a same design drawing. The purpose is maintaining the update of changes doing by your coworker.

Repair error Xref when open drawing

Repair error Xref when open drawing

When opening main drawing, we see xref file error, the error status is the display of yellow exclamation mark (!) at the right edge of xref file. At Status panel, there is a yellow exclamation mark  warning (!) and Not Found error notification.

Reason leads to xref file error:

This error is caused because xref file has moved to another place on saved disk so main drawing could not find xref find follow the original link that you has attached.

Solution:

At File Reference place, click choose corrupted xref file.

At Detail place, click choose Saved Path which has the symbol … as the picture follow:

Find the changed link by choosing My computer/ choose disk/choose location (new location) that stores xref file/choose xref file.

Then, click Open to update xref file for main drawing.

Besides editing Xref drawing in one new tab as usual, we are able to edit xref drawing in main drawing. It helps us to save time when opening and editing Xref drawing.

Method 1:

Step 1: In External References window, choose xref drawing which is needed to edited in main drawing.

Step 2: Right-click on that drawing, click choose Open to open the drawing.

Step 3: After editing, save that drawing. Then, go to main drawing and Reload xref drawing which is just edited.

Method 2:

Besides opening the whole xref drawing, we also have another way to open just a part of xref drawing for editing in main drawing.

Doing as follow:

Step 1: Double-click on xref needed to edit in main drawing.

Step 1: Click view panel in ribbon area.

Step 3: Tool Palette optional panel will be displayed on the right screen.

Step 4: If you want Tool Palette optional panel is always displayed at the top right corner, click Gear symbol and tick “Anchor Right”

Step 5: On the left edge of Tool Palette optional panel, there are trades list of block, you click to choose which trades you want.

Step 6: In order to insert block at first, click suitable trade then left-click to choose needed block. After that, drag mouse into working screen and left-click to allocate block.

The statistics of measurements drawing would be easy and save a lot of time when we are supported by Lisp to measure the total length of different lines. As a default, the commands in AutoCAD only have command to measure single line that is List command. When we want to measure many segments or lines, working with List (shortcut is LI) command is wasting a lot of time and able to cause misunderstand.

To solve this issue, we use Lisp to do statistics. With Lisp, we can do statistics for many different objects at the same time just by simple operation.

What is Layer?

Layer in AutoCAD is used for managing drawing class, drawing line effectively and professionally.

In the progress of working with drawing, we use layer in Autocad to display or hide class and line in order to avoid confusing between current category and others. In progress of converting file into drawing, we use layer to display or hide some categories as needed.

In progress of printing, we use layer to display categories, or lines that we need to print; with the others that is not needed to print, we can turn them off.

The progress of turning off layer to edit, print and export current drawing file will not affect to hidden layer.

To display layer management panel, we use shortcut: LA => Enter.
