Repair error Xref when open drawing

When opening main drawing, we see xref file error, the error status is the display of yellow exclamation mark (!) at the right edge of xref file. At Status panel, there is a yellow exclamation mark  warning (!) and Not Found error notification.
Reason leads to xref file error:
This error is caused because xref file has moved to another place on saved disk so main drawing could not find xref find follow the original link that you has attached.
See more: how to Attach xref file into main drawing on tutorial: use Xref command in AutoCAD.
Solution:
At File Reference place, click choose corrupted xref file.
At Detail place, click choose Saved Path which has the symbol … as the picture follow:
Find the changed link by choosing My computer/ choose disk/choose location (new location) that stores xref file/choose xref file.
Then, click Open to update xref file for main drawing.

Lisp to measure the total length of different lines

The statistics of measurements drawing would be easy and save a lot of time when we are supported by Lisp to measure the total length of different lines. As a default, the commands in AutoCAD only have command to measure single line that is List command. When we want to measure many segments or lines, working with List (shortcut is LI) command is wasting a lot of time and able to cause misunderstand.
To solve this issue, we use Lisp to do statistics. With Lisp, we can do statistics for many different objects at the same time just by simple operation.
After downloading, you copy Lisp TL and paste into Autodesk file folder in C disk as the recommended link:

Manage Layer in AutoCAD

Manage Layer in AutoCAD

What is Layer?

Layer is classes, lines in AutoCAD drawing file.
Layer in AutoCAD is used for managing drawing class, drawing line effectively and professionally.
In the progress of working with drawing, we use layer in Autocad to display or hide class and line in order to avoid confusing between current category and others. In progress of converting file into drawing, we use layer to display or hide some categories as needed.
In progress of printing, we use layer to display categories, or lines that we need to print; with the others that is not needed to print, we can turn them off.
The progress of turning off layer to edit, print and export current drawing file will not affect to hidden layer.
To display layer management panel, we use shortcut: LA => Enter.
Layer management window.

Insert logo and image into AutoCAD drawing

During design engineering drawings, at times you need to insert a picture into the drawing such as company logo, picture the current situation, the perspective image, etc.
The simplest way: Insert -> Raster Image Reference then select the image file to insert into the drawing. This method similar to Copy and Paste images directly into AutoCAD, so it is performed quite fast and convenient, but it has a disadvantage after inserting image into CAD drawings, if you open up your computer you, the image remains but when you copy this cad file and use another computer to open, the image is inserted will be lost, instead of showing only the path containing the image file.
Here are some tips that can help you after inserting images into AutoCAD drawings and remain open to normal, the image is still in the drawing when using another computer.

Layout tutorial in AutoCAD

A lot of people don’t know how to make a technical drawing professionally. They usually draw all the things to a frame paper in Model environment, whatever the blueprints which are larger than the frame, because they think the blueprints will be unchanged.  However, when they do that, there are several non-technically disadvantages which are described below:
  • First: You have to create some frames names which are suitable with the size of the subject to be printed.
  • Second: Choose different size and font size suitable with the subject to be printed. So in the end, each blueprint may have different size and font size, do not follow any design standards.
  • Third: Details will be created whose size is different from reality and obviously the size value has to be fitted with the manual way, easy to confuse or be forgot when you change something in the blueprint.
There is a professional way to solve all these issues, just take a bit of time. Then, whenever we are asked to make a blueprint, we just quickly and automatically apply this method. All we have to do is useLayout to create print paper.
AutoCAD has 2 windows: Model and Layout.
Model: use to draw the design object; each file has just only one Model space which is 3D (X, Y and Z) and endless. When we draw in Model environment, we need to comply some rules: draw exactly to the real sizes, and we cannot figure out those sizes correctly and respectfully, do not type the value by hand.
Layout: use to print the object of Model, each file can have a lot of Layout; depend on the number of blueprint you need. Layout’s space is just limited in the print paper and has to dimension (X and Y). Layout allows us to insert many images of object in Model with the optional ratio of display and scope. So, we can insert whole object or just a part of the drawing object and also insert many images of 1 object with many different sizes.
At the beginning, we need to do some manipulations. In order not to do those manipulations again, we save them as a Template. From now, whenever you design, just open that Template to set up all the things. Those manipulations as below:
  1. Create necessary Layers (Object Layer): beside Layer 0 as default, at least we need to have 2 more Layers: Dim1 and Dim2 for each size which be presented in different scene.
We can also create other Layers if we want, just remember highlight the brushstrokes of that Layer and paint them with suitable color.
  1. Create print paper: Click Layout Label, we will see this window:
Click Modify -> choose PrinterPaper size:

5. Press Enter.
6. Press Enter again to get out of the command.
Note:
Specify  next point  or [Undo] or Specify  next point  or [Undo/Close]: If we type U at the prompt,AutoCAD will cancel just draw line. If we type C at the prompt, Software will close the end point with first point in the case a lot of drawing line.
